A New Table

To be honest, I have nothing today. I’ve been working on departmental paper work all week, writing letters of recommendation, preparing tests, grading papers, giving a talk, and going to meetings. It’s odd that for such a busy week, I have almost nothing to report. Well, almost nothing:

1. Go and read Evan Nelson’s post over at Teaching Thursday. He does a great job reminding us that teaching often begins before a student ever sets foot on campus. He’s a recruitment specialist for The Graduate School here at the University of North Dakota and reminds us that success as a teacher is often dependent upon a good match between a student, a program, and a faculty member.

2. The second thing I’ll offer is a photograph of the new table that I found orphaned in a hallway and that I squeezed into my office. It’s pretty sweet and seems very happy there.

good fortune indeed in finding such a fine orphaned specimen. maybe you can adopt some nice matching orphaned wooden chairs to replace that plastic one.

    Bill,
Thought you would like to know that the table was the computer table used by us TA’s back in Merrifield 210. Unfortunately, our smaller accommodations prevented us from having one office and continuing to use it as such. May you enjoy it and remember us who sat at it long after we leave.
    Daniel
